our centre

Kids’ Kampus provides a full-day childcare facility. Our Koru House caters for children aged 0 to 2.5 years, and our Kauri House caters for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. The Centres are adjacent to one and other and are situated in the middle of residential Mt Eden. We are well-placed to provide services for families who live in Mt Eden and the surrounding suburbs of Central Auckland and beyond, for those who travel through the area for work.

Our centres have been beautifully created from traditional Mt Eden bungalows.  Each home has been extended and thoughtfully re-purposed to create a welcoming and relaxed environment.   The essence of a home has been maintained, with our open-plan kitchen and family rooms being the heart of our centres, where we get together each day to eat, play, and hang out with our friends.

As with any home, children are not restricted to spending all day in any one room.  The teachers carefully utilise all areas of our homes, ensuring there is opportunity to keep children engaged as they choose which spaces they'd like to work in.  This flexibility means we can adapt to varying weather conditions or the projects children are investigating at the time.

first class facilities

We go above and beyond regulatory requirements, providing so much more than the ‘standard’ experience:

  • Quality equipment sourced from Europe, North America, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

  • Secure, happy and homely environment for your child to have fun and enjoy their day.

  • Spacious houses for children from 0 to 2 and 2 to 5 years old in two adjacent properties with very large gardens.

  • Large indoor areas which can be sectioned off, enabling small group activity and larger group interaction, regardless of the weather.

  • Large outdoor area with an exciting and challenging adventure playground to promote physical, creative and social development.

  • Separate sleeping rooms from play areas ensure opportunity for undisturbed rest.

  • Child ratios and Trained Teacher levels well surpass Government required standards, providing excellent quality of care.

Koru House is dedicated to providing a special environment to cater for the unique needs of infants and toddlers.  With a whole house in which to spread our wings, it is full of cosy corners and an abundance of space where our littlest community can creep, crawl and explore in a relaxed and supported setting.

Children have the opportunity to choose between exploring both the indoor or outdoor environments throughout the day.  We encourage them to follow their individual interests and to engage in the experiences that peak their curiosity and sense of wonder about the world.  Our facilities provide excellent, flexible and varied all-weather spaces for children to play in safely.

koru routines

Our day is designed to flow in an unhurried and natural way that supports your child’s individual routine and enables them to be participants in the activities of the day.  We will ask you to share as much information as possible about your child to assist us in maintaining a predictable and familiar approach to their care.

Meals and sleeping occur at regular times throughout the day.  We consider these to be a valued part of the learning experience that will support our children to become competent, independent young citizens. Separate sleeping rooms from play areas ensure undisturbed rest.

koru groups

In Koru House, your child will join a small primary care group based on their age and individual needs. A dedicated key teacher supports their daily routines and learning experiences, helping them build strong, trusting relationships and a sense of belonging within our KK whanau.

Your child will have their own portfolio, maintained by the teachers, which shares their learning journey with you.  You are welcome to read about your child's days at KK any time, and we encourage you to add to their portfolio so we can be aware of their learning and experiences they have at home.

day to day

Children are offered a wide range of experiences each day, based on their interests and the dispositions teachers observe in their play. These experiences are designed to support the development of skills, knowledge, and life experience.

Your child will be encouraged to express creativity through art, craft, and music, to work alongside peers in group play, and to explore materials independently. Children build confidence and begin to see themselves as capable, successful learners. Infants and toddlers access a rich variety of materials, including puzzles, blocks, play dough, water and sand play, books, music, dramatic play, and a purpose-designed outdoor playground and garden just for our youngest children.

Kauri House is our preschool centre and is designed to challenge and extend your child as they become eager to practise the growing range of skills they are developing. Children are provided the opportunity to explore freely within generous spaces, both indoors and out. Our beautiful, sunny bungalow has been designed to create comfortable and homely places for play. Children are able to gather in small groups or work independently as they select activities that interest them.

Our extensive outdoor areas are a much cherished and valued asset at Kids' Kampus.  Kids need LOTS of room to move, it is critical in stimulating brain development and supports us in growing active, healthy children.

kauri routines

Our day is structured to meet the varying range of needs that preschool children have.  We provide a balance between child-initiated exploration and teacher-led experiences to support current areas of interest and investigation.  Once or twice a day we gather for mat time to share stories, news, or sing, dance and make music.

Meal times offer children an opportunity to make decisions for themselves in choosing when to eat during our rolling morning and afternoon teas, as well as the ability to do their own dishes.  At lunch we sit together, enjoying the social interaction that gathering around food provides.  Those who require a rest are able to do so.

kauri groups

Each child is allocated to a group within the centre and will have some key teachers responsible for providing their learning programme. This is developed through careful observations and enables teachers to plan new and exciting experiences that will entice children to participate throughout the day.

Each child will also have a portfolio maintained by the teachers, that will share their learning journey with you.  You are welcome to read about your child's time with us and we encourage you to add to your child's portfolio and share their learning outside of the centre whenever you wish.

day to day

The Kauri House programme fosters confident, capable learners by encouraging exploration within boundaries and responsibility for self, others, and the environment. Teachers support development through hands-on experiences that build motor skills, language, creativity, and resilience. Children are encouraged to try new things, persevere, and share their knowledge with others.

Preschool children in Kauri House access a wide range of materials including: puzzles, blocks, construction sets, play dough, water and sand play, books, dramatic play, creative art resources, our specialised Montessori apparatus, bikes, climbing frames, our massive outdoor adventure playground and more.

hours

Kids' Kampus is open Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5.30pm.  We open 52 weeks of the year and only close on weekends and statutory holidays. Children are required to be enrolled for a minimum of two days per week, and they must attend for at least seven hours each day.

meals

Children bring a packed lunch, along with morning and afternoon tea each day. We’re happy to refrigerate food that needs to be kept cool or heat meals that need to be served warm. Packed lunches also offer practical benefits: you can tailor meals to suit your child’s tastes, monitor their food intake, and ensure any dietary needs or allergies are managed with care.

Teachers often include baking as part of the daily programme, giving children the chance to prepare and share food.
