Koru House is dedicated to providing a special environment to cater for the unique needs of infants and toddlers. With a whole house in which to spread our wings, it is full of cosy corners and an abundance of space where our littlest community can creep, crawl and explore in a relaxed and supported setting.
Children have the opportunity to choose between exploring both the indoor or outdoor environments throughout the day. We encourage them to follow their individual interests and to engage in the experiences that peek their curiosity and sense of wonder about the world. Our facilities provide excellent, flexible and varied all-weather spaces for children to play in safely.

Our day is designed to flow in an unhurried and natural way that supports your child’s individual routine and enables them to be participants in the activities of the day. We will ask you to share as much information as possible about your child to assist us in maintaining a predictable and familiar approach to their care. Meals and sleeping occur at regular times throughout the day. We consider these to be a valued part of the learning experience that will support our children to become competent, independent young citizens. Separate sleeping rooms from play areas ensure undisturbed rest.
Your child will be allocated to a primary-care group within Koru House based on their age and individual needs. Key teachers are allocated to work with each group of children to provide for their daily needs and the learning experiences children will engage in. This individual approach to infant and toddler care ensures that your child will quickly develop trusting relationships with their teachers, and a sense of belonging within our KK family.
Trust and respectful relationships form the basis for providing a stable and supportive learning environment and are critical at this early stage in a young child's development.
Your child will have their own portfolio, maintained by the teachers, which shares their learning journey with you. You are welcome to read about your child's days at KK any time, and we encourage you to add to their portfolio so we can be aware of their learning and experiences they have at home.

All children are offered opportunities to participate in a wide range of experiences throughout the day. These promote the interests and dispositions teachers have observed in children's play and aim to develop and extend their growing repertoire of skills, knowledge and life experiences.
Your child will be encouraged to be creative through art, crafts and music activities, to work in groups alongside their friends and to work individually with materials of their own choosing. Children develop confidence in their abilities and begin to see themselves as successful learners as they engage with materials and explore all that is on offer to them.
Infants and toddlers in Koru House will be able to access an array of materials to explore, including puzzles, blocks, play dough, water and sand play, books, music, dramatic play and outside, a purpose designed adventure playground and garden just for our youngest community.
